The Craft Villages
An hour outside Hanoi, the old ways are still the only ways. Incense sticks dry in the sun by the thousands, drums are stretched and tuned by hand, rice paper is pulled from frames the same way it has been for generations and clay becomes the great urns that hold the rice liquor the region is known for. These villages exist to make things — and in watching them work, you begin to understand something about patience that the city doesn't teach.
