Michael Grigoriev

Michael is a software engineer based in New York City, where he channels his analytical mind into building technology by day and chasing light across the world's far corners whenever he can escape the office. With a lifelong passion for travel and photography, he is drawn to the stories that exist just beyond the familiar — in the faces of strangers, the texture of foreign streets, and the quiet moments between destinations. His journeys with X-Peditions — from the streets of Havana to the rice harvests of Nam Sai — taught him that a camera is less a tool for capturing images than a passport to human connection. That belief has carried him to Myanmar, where he photographed Buddhist monks and the legendary one-legged fishermen of Inle Lake; to the electric chaos of a Shiva procession in India; and beneath the crystal waters of Turks and Caicos. Whether wandering the colorful marketplaces of Jaipur or sharing a laugh with lychee vendors in Madagascar, Michael finds that the best photographs aren't simply taken — they're earned, one genuine encounter at a time.
